Case Study Residential Refurbishment Grade 1 Listed and Grade 2 Star Cotswold’s
Abbeymead Building ltd, A Chartered Building Company (CBC) ,were contracted to carry out the sensitive refurbishment of the Grade 1 listed and Grade 2 star listed properties in the Cotswold’s.
The buildings have been refurbished sympathetically to a high standard and benefit from the installation of new mechanical and electrical services.
Extensive consultation was sort with the Local Conservation officer and Historic England to agree the most sensitive method of refurbishment.
Special insurances were taken out for the works and extensive safety measure were put in place with regard to fire and security measures.
During the opening up works sections of original timbers were found to be in need of repair. Expert advice was sort from Industry leaders in Timber Preservation and repair to ensure that the remedial works could be carried out without detriment to the building.
As many of the original features were retained as possible and an holistic approach adopted when dealing with repairs and integrating services into the building fabric.
Local materials were sourced for both authenticity and colour match and local experts consulted to ensure that works matched the original. Roof repairs and removal of non-original features have resulted in the building being returned to its former appearance.
Other works consisted or reforming original openings between the buildings opening up blocked windows roof repairs and wall panelling to reception rooms.
Particular care was taken to avoid disturbing our neighbours, during the works, as the building were surrounded on 3 sides with Holiday Homes.
The works were completed over a 26 week period.
